We typically drink espresso at home. For a long road trip, I was on the hunt for an excellent, easily portable option. I read many reviews and articles and ended up trying the aeropress but was gravely disappointed--it's highly impractical and produces one nasty or weak, painstaking cup after another, and only one shot at a time. Also messy and time-consuming, you have to boil the water first with another device. I had tried a hot plate with a stovetop espresso maker last year but it took forever and tasted nasty. I even considered buying a small Nespresso for the road but I taste-tested the coffee at the store and it was really bitter.I think the Coffee Angels intervened and saved me from my search by leading me to this briki! It is already wired for U.S. electricity, which is fantastic, and made enough shots of delicious espresso-level coffee for both my husband and me for a single day [we typically drink 6-8]Here's how we do it. We like a dark roast, so we chose the Lebanese coffee Naijar This coffee maker was such a disappointment. Decent size for multiple coffees but not well made & came broken apart, wires exposed as the unit was open at the base, top of lid off & i could glue that part i guess but why should i have to do that for a new product?? The biggest issue is it just stops working every single time I've tried to use it as the piece where the unit connects to the base, is loose & moves out if place & disconnects. Ive burned myself a few time lifting the hot unit half way through the process (after unplugging but still hot) trying to push the piece back in place so it starts again. So frustrating & dangerous even. When I bought this coffee maker, I was hoping for it to help make coffee making easier not such a hassle & hazardous. I will return it but annoyed as I hope i got simply unlucky with a bad unit & not the case of a cheaply made, flimsy, defective product.I really like this, but you have to practice a few times. Once you get it right, you will have a luxurious foam that lasts the whole cup and a rich flavor you don't get with drip. My recommendations:-- Very, very fine powdered sugar type grind. I use a hand grinder from Amazon. Takes awhile but worth it.-- I use a heaping tablespoon of the freshly ground coffee per 2-ish oz. For a standard mug of coffee I use quite a bit.. like 6 tablespoons.-- Stir it well. Turn it on. Internet says to not stir while it's heating, but I stir it once.-- You'll start to see it moving, and JUST WHEN it bubbles and the bubbles expand. YANK it off. Quickly!! You literally have about 5 seconds.-- Let it sit about 30 second, possible lightly stir.-- Put it back on. Turn it back on. Let it bubble up again, it will happen within a few seconds.-- Take it off. Done. I usually don't go 3 rounds. gently pour it in your cup.If you have a very powdery fine grind and you don't over-boil/let it spill over, the result is a luxurious foam and rich yet not bitter brew.Enjoy. P.S... I don't think my way is traditional but it is delicious.I'm sooo confused. When I bought this (yesterday) I made two really nice coffee cups. I was impressed at the speed and efficiency of this product and I'm sure my greek family wouldn't even be able to tell that I didn't make this with a flame burner.I turned it on today to make another coffee, it started rising a tiny bit so I lifted it up slightly to make the foam like I did yesterday...the device turned off even though it didn't yesterday and the coffee was ruined because it never finished the making process... I tried it again, this time it didn't even get to the point where there are ANY bubbles so again the coffee wasn't ready and the machine was already off.I dont understand what changed but it's very frustrating that I have to return it.After using it a few times, it broke. No power. They refused to replace it because it passed 30 days.A friend who took it apart found out the switch went bad. Might as well throw it into trash.I bought this thinking that it will turn off by itself once the coffee is boiled, but no you have to stay and turn it off other wise you will get the coffee all over the place. Other then this problem it is fast and big My first batch was enough for 6 espresso cups which is not bad at all. Over all I like it for my office.I was very happy with this purchase at first. After several uses (in less than a month) it would turn off before boiling. At first, I though that I added more water than marked by the line and that caused the issue. So, I exchanged it for another one. Same issue. I followed instructions, changed the outlet, nothing worked. Haven't changed it yet nor tried it again, disappointed..For some of you who had bad experience like me, here is a good news. You can repair quickly by changing the fuse. Thermostat was working when we dismantled the back. The machine has poor switch safety design. Everytime you mistakenly plug it to the wall with a switch turned on, you will burn the fuse even if you are extremely quick to turn it off. This coffee maker will never last long. I put the picture of the fuse and inside the coffee maker. Mine works now. Good luck with yours. This turkish coffee make is too large. No one makes this much Turkish or Greek coffee in one shot. I could be half the size and still be perfect. The cap is a bit flimsy and completely unnecessary.. they could just not include it. The bottom fits into the electric base, which presents a problem.. can you wash or clean the base with water? Or will that corrode the electrical parts.. I'm not sure... i mean when you're done making the coffee you set it down on the counter and the base will eventually get wet or dirty..can you clean it? If so how? I don't know.. It makes great coffee and very fast but .. i'm unsure.i got 2 of them, 1 was about 68 dollars in new condition and 2.one was 25dollars for like new condition. There are no difference at all.,HOWEVER They both have same issue, as other users mentioned it doesnt work consistently, it shut offs in the middle of the heating of the coffee.. such a waste of moneyEl articulo es de calidad en todos sus sentidos solo que no cumple con el objetivo del anuncio ya que menciona cafetera turca y el cafe en ese estilo es cocinado a fuego lento y en este caso trabaja como un calentador de agua para cafe o te es decir hierve muy rapido el agua y eso no permite alcanzar el sabor de cafe turcoBest purchase ever. Best Greek coffee maker own two.
