Description
Carrie Stevens (1882-1970) of Upper Dam, Maine, created some of the most beautiful and enduring streamer patterns ever, including the legendary Gray Ghost, which she designed to catch the giant brook trout and landlocked salmon of the Rangeley Lakes. This long-awaited book is both a history of the woman and the region, as well as a guide to the Stevens method. It includes color plates of original patterns, some only recently discovered, along with a biography illustrated with archival photos. The tying section lists dressings for more than 100 streamers, 65 of which have never been published.

If you are interested in Carrie Stevens and her famous streamers, this is the definitive book. Great pictures and descriptions of the flies, and a well researched history of her fly tying. Not for everyone, but if you are interested in traditional Maine streamers, this is for you. A bit pricey though.
