I watched the movie 'Hotel Rwanda' several years ago, and since then, have been haunted by the thought of genocide happening in my lifetime. When I saw this book title in the Kindle freebies list, I knew it was one I wanted to read. The tagline of this book is: 'How I survived the Rwandan Genocide', so I thought it would be an autobiography of the author's own survival. This book, however, is so much more. It doesn't just tell the story of Eric's survival; it tells the story of several family members and others who survived. And it doesn't end there. It goes on to tell of Eric's conversion to Christianity, of his desire to help Rwandan orphans, not just in physical/temporal ways, but to help them find faith and hope through Christ.I'd say the more appropriate tagline would be: 'WHY I survived the Rwandan Genocide'!4.5 stars
