The body is made with solid alder for the body and a comfortable hard maple neck. The granadillo fingerboard has classic pearloid dot inlays and standard medium jumbo frets. Tuning is fast and accurate with Epiphone machine heads with a 14:1 tuning ratio along with Epiphone’s adjustable, intonated wrap-around Stop Bar Combo bridge. The Les Paul Melody Maker is powered by Epiphone's open coil 650SCR single-coil pickup in the neck position and a 700SCR single-coil pickup in the rhythm or bridge position. The Les Paul Melody Maker's master volume and master tone knobs control both pickups. Epiphone MityPRO mini amp is battery powered and has built-in overdrive, master tone, master volume, MP3 player input, and headphone out (perfect for practicing with your favorite tracks) and comes with an instrument cable.

I've played guitar for a long time now so I know a little about them. Especially how they feel and play. This guitar was one of 2 I got for my neices on Xmas. The other was decent and the same price range. I tuned that one up first and noticed a few minor blemishes. This one (the Epiphone) tuned up really smoothly and this guitar just felt good in my bigger sized man hands, I usually like a wider neck guitar. I may buy another just for me to mess around with. Has a really great sound and great action. Found it super easy to play and all in all it felt like I had been playing it for years within a minute or two. Didn't see any blemishes and all the switches and knobs turned smooth and switched pick-ups smoothly. I can't complain about anything wih this guitar especially for the price. Neck was so near perfect out of the box it didn't need any adjustment. Fret edgess are smooth. I don't know what else I can say.... That's it. I'm gping and picking another epiphone right now to ask the wife if I can buy tomorrow. This review convinced me it's a good idea.
