Shirt starts out pathetically thin because it is NOT preshrunk. After machine washing on normal cycles it shrinks about a 1/2" in width and 1" in length and softens a bit. No noticeable shrinkage after first wash. At this point it's a decent shirt that can help keep you warm as a layer. I'm 5'6" and 130 lbs. I originally got a large, but it was a little short giving no room for shrinkage. The XL fits perfect in the body and can be tucked in if needed. Sadly, as the size chart shows, the sleeve length does not increase when you size up from L to XL. So the sleeves are 2-3" short and I have to constantly pull them down all time. As for the color, The dark gray is about three shades darker than shown and the brown is a cinnamon. If not for the short sleeves I would have bought more.Update ... A year later I hadn't found a better waffle thermal (with high cotton percentage) so purchased another of these. It came somewhat preshrunk! It didn't start out see through! Now if only the sleeves were a bit longer I'd gladly buy more when available.
