After being without a working ice maker on my GE PSS26PSTA for nearly a year, I decided to try one of these replacement units. I had been hesitant because so many other things broke on the fridge (motherboard fried, pooling water at the bottom, etc), and it isn't really that old. I wasn't sure if I wanted to shell out the high price of an OEM unit from the official parts distributor, or just get a new fridge.Anyway, seeing this lower priced replacement I decided the price was right to give it a shot. I was worried that it didn't look exactly like the unit in my fridge, that it had the metal bar instead of the plastic lever, that the pic had the fill cup on the right but my fridge fills from the back... but reading the reviews carefully, it seemed like it was somewhat universal and would work in my fridge. Sure enough, it did.It took only about 5 minutes to install. The fill cup from my broken icemaker snapped right into the back, the correct cable was included, and everything fit in perfectly. It's just got the one screw, like the old one. Super easy installation. Within an hour the unit was making ice, and before long (faster than the old one, I think), the ice bucket was full! Now, I've only had it a couple of weeks so I don't know about long-term durability, but having a working icemaker again at such a bargain price has really made me happy with this purchase.
