For my kids, and all their friends, ages 4-10, this is always a popular gift. They are really into rocks at this age, and finding the most "rare" ones. This product is often on sale, so that's a bonus! The light it comes with is OK. It's not intended for the smaller rocks, just the larger, flat agates (which it only comes with one of). The light is misleading but the rocks are fun.
