Description
Natural casings are a great option for sausage making; they are durable while retaining elasticity, and allow for smoke penetration which enhances flavor. This is also the type of casing that gives sausage that distinct “snap” when bitten. Sheep casings are typically smaller and more tender than hog or beef casings, and can be cooked or dried a variety of ways. Smaller diameter sheep casings are typically used to make snack sticks, breakfast links, cocktail franks, and pepperettes, while larger diameters are generally for hot dogs, frankfurters, chipolata, landjaegar or even bratwurst. Our sheep casings are perfect for pretty much any recipe you have in mind and are easily twistable into links; simply select the diameter that suits your needs. All of our casings are “A-Grade”, a high standard that classifies them as having minimal holes and more strength for stuffing fine grinds with less bursts. Our natural sheep casings have been cleaned, flushed, and salted to preserve their freshness, quality and unique characteristics. All of our casings have gone through a strict and thorough cleaning process; always de-whiskered, never bleached. These casings are not whole hank; instead, they are made up of various lengths, called “shorts” (1 yard minimum), making this the perfect option for home sausage makers. Approximately 60 yards long. We recommend keeping these casings in the fridge at all times and have a very long shelf life when stored properly. Un-refrigerated, these salted casings may begin to give off an odor, even though they are not spoiled. Put them back under refrigeration and this odor subsides. Do not freeze; freezing natural casings can cause weakening and tears, which can lead to bursting more frequently when stuffing and cooking. Soak prior to use. This will help the product become tender and pliable, allowing for easier loading onto stuffing tubes.

Arrived way before the estimated time! You need 5mn to untangle a little bit, but those are really great. They soften faster than the one in small package. They are fairly resistant when stuffing them (still new to this) and easy to work with.Even though you need to cough up the roughly $50, you get more for your money than any small packages. Chances are you will want to make more anyway since they are that easy to work with. Will buy it again, most definitely! This I a good clean and easy to use product I have bought other casings on Amazon but this product is thus far the best quality for money and all casings are prepared good and cleanUpdate 2022: The prior issues I had were remedied, they do stand by their product. The last batch I ordered were among the best casings I have ever used. Very well laid out, very very long sections and not tangled at all. They are on the thinner side (which I prefer) so some mild care needed to be taken to prevent blow outs but overall I am a very happy customer again. the 20-22mm casings are about perfect. I hope the next order sees them the same length as the last ones.I use these to make chicken sausage. The last two batch’s I have never used the one from oct 23 we had replace the next one came and it was a little bit moister but was not able to use I have both. But never sent them back I paid a lot for them and you were kind enough to replace the first ones but I have ordered these before and never had this problem so I wasted 46 dollars. Can I send them back so you can figure out the problem.I recently used these to make homemade wieners and was very happy with these. The end result was the diameter I was looking for and I felt the casings were fairly durable. This order will last me quite a while as I feel I didn't use a ton to make 20 pounds of product. This is a natural products so any weak points will be a potential for blowouts if they are overstuffed but if you're buying these you probably already know that. That being said, I didn't experience as many blowouts as I thought I would based on some descriptions I'd heard of working with sheep casings. It's nice that they come in a rigid container to keep the fridge a little more tidy as well.I wouldn't hesitate to buy again!BoereworsMakes a nice size link. The sheep casings just run a higher in price than the hog casings. Just take your time stuffing or they will blow outEconomical and good shipping. The casings are a little short but work well.Excellent casings. Much easier to use than the 20mm casings I had used previously, and the strength and quality of these casings was notable. Not a single split or blowout. The lengths vary from 5 to 8 feet but they are so easy to slide on to my stuffer's tube that it didn't matter.Highly recommended product. The photo shows 4 pounds of breakfast sausage.
