This is a book of waffle iron recipes and more. The author’s intro explains what’s great about waffles, as if I didn’t already know, that made me salivate like one of Pavlov’s dogs. He pointed out that waffles are a versatile food format, probably underestimated, and offered as examples such unlikely possibilities as waffled fried egg, donut, cheeseburger, spaghetti casserole, and others. He also offers tips on choosing a waffle maker if you don’t already own one: he says to buy a good one and offers his own personal recommendation. The book contains 100 inspired waffle iron recipes, and encourages readers to be creative with their own. The recipes are organized in three categories: Sugar (sweet), Spice (savory), and Everything Nice (sweet & savory). Each recipe is described with a list of ingredients, step by step instructions, and notes. Here’s a sampling of the recipes by category: Sugar (butter pecan waffle delight, churro, hazelnut coffee, peanut butter and jelly, chocolate orange, strawberry, banana bread, oatmeal raisin, apple pie, brioche French toast, wonuts, classic waffles, fluffy classic waffles), Spice (waffle burger, veggie bean burger, bacon, sunny side up eggs, waflleroni and cheese, meaty waffled calzone, ham and cheese womelet, waffle hashbrowns, cheesy chicken waffledillas, felafel, spaghetti casserole, crab cakes, mozzarella, eggplant Parmesan), Everything Nice (waffled Greek olive loaf, veggie vegan, chicken, steak and cheese, turkey cornbread, pistachio and salmon). I like the creative names. The Kindle version of this book is a real bargain.
