We needed a waffle maker and selected it because it offered full size waffles in a compact and sleek shape. Delighted with how it cooks, and that it is not bulky. Good looking. This is a great improvement over the waffle maker it replaces and I loved it but the cord wore out so I was skeptical about whether a new one could satisfy me but this one is just great ;much quicker than using the 2 section one it replaced. Thank you.I had to return this waffle maker. Not due to any shortcomings of the unit itself. It would've been perfect if not for the fact that it was a BELGIAN waffle maker; I wanted a traditional, American waffle maker. What is up with this current infatuation with Belgian waffles and why is it so hard to find traditional waffle makers anymore? While I do love waffles, I can't stand Belgian waffles.Now. I did read the reviews of this waffle maker, and many reported that while this one WAS a Belgian, it also made much thinner waffles than a "real" Belgian waffle maker. So, that sold me on it. I wanted a square, traditional waffle maker, and was unable to find one at this price, so I settled for this one, thinking that this would be comparable to a regular waffle maker. The waffles were thinner than Belgians, but not by much. This unit takes about 1 and 1/4 cup of batter. A traditional, 4 square waffle maker requires about 3/4 cup of batter. If you're making waffles for one person, which I often am, this waffle maker is a colossal waste of batter. It's too much. Which is why I hate Belgian waffles. Now, I have to say, if this wasn't a Belgian, it would've been perfect for me. It does, however, take a bit of effort to clean it. I believe the manual suggested that you just wipe it down after each use. I'm dead-set against that. That's a recipe for bacteria build-up.I have to clean with soap and water. And I use a soft bristled brush to clean between the grooves. And I did this after each use. You just have to be careful to not allow water to get to the electrical parts: the temperature control, or the vents underneath. But the operation was excellent. If you prefer the Belgian waffle maker, this one might be perfect for you. Just keep in mind that the waffles will be slightly thinner.I make protein waffles and it's so easy to use. Not as easy to clean, but doesn't stop me from using it!Having had my fill of my single waffle maker, I decided that this behemoth would do the trick and make it easy to enjoy a waffle with guests instead of running up and down to make individual waffles. I learned that paying attention to the amount of steam serves as the unit's "ready light". When the steam is gone the waffles are almost ready, lightly raise the lid...if it resists, leave it be, try again in 30 seconds and the lid should lift without any effort...you'll be treated to four, well-cooked waffles you can serve and sit down and enjoy with your breakfast guest(s). Yes, I'm happy with it after it trained me. Easy to clean too.Bought in 2018 and still going strong. It’s ok didn’t didn’t realize it had a 3 prong pull in don’t care for that , hard to cleanMy seven year old niece's passion for waffles started before kindergarten. She would eat waffles for every meal if allowed. A graduate now of second grade, she's spending the first month of summer vacation with us.It was with her in mind that I broke out the old waffle iron, to show her "real" waffles don't come from the freezer and they aren't cooked in a toaster. They come from homemade batter. Fresh off of the iron, they're hot enough to melt cold pats of butter. They don't need to swim in that "gee I wish I was maple" syrup; only a drizzle of the real deal makes them heaven. To say that her first homemade waffles were a hit would be a major misunderstatement. I slid the plate in front of her and she dove in; about two bites in, she stopped chewing. For a couple of seconds she sat with her mouth open and her eyes glazed; then, she smacked her lips and chewed through both waffles like a chainsaw through kindling.I had created a monster. The old waffle iron made one little round waffle at a time, way too cumbersome, plus it's one of those you have to turn over halfway through to cook both sides (I said it was old). It required a lot more attention than I'm capable of before a few cups of coffee and I couldn't see using it every morning for the next month.Online at Amazon.com, I found this Hamilton Beach 26020 Belgian Style Waffle Baker. Anticipating washing it first, I was disappointed to realize that the plates don't come out. I went over them with a dishcloth, moist with hot, soapy water and then a second wet cloth, a couple of times, to rinse. Any disappointment vanished the next morning. So simple! It heated up while I stirred oil and egg into my batter mix.The first waffle was a mess; totally my fault. The second time around, after cleaning it out, I followed directions. After spraying it evenly with Pam, top and bottom, I poured the batter into the middle of each waffle square and pulled down the top. The timer hadn't gone off when the smell led me to believe the waffle was done; when I went to slowly lift the lid, it resisted a little, so I let it go the full time before trying again. The iron opened and the waffle would have slid right out except one corner stuck until I pushed from the side with a spatula. It came out as one large waffle, undamaged, looking golden brown. I divided it into four and confirmed it was fully cooked. Placing two to a plate, I joined my niece at the table. After an almost ceremonial application of butter and syrup to every square, she bit in and declared them "even better" than what I'd cooked on the old iron (although I think that had more to do with getting two at once). I too enjoyed eating mine while I told her of a magical dinner that combines fried chicken and waffles and watched her eyes glaze over again. If I had a chance to recommend changes, I'd ask that the iron be made with removeable plates; other than that, for the price, I have no complaints and would buy this again for myself or as a gift. Salen 5 minutos puedes levantar la tapa par vigilar.I was worried about the uneven baking comments, but it's working perfectly after a month of 2 times a week. Even though it looks like the surface won't stick you still have to use oil or the waffles will stick. It cooks evenly the 4 sections, you just have to time well your pancakes.Edit: One year later and once a week usage (Weekend waffles are the best!) it is still going strong, I'm a Hamilton Beach lover now :)Edit: Almost 3 years later, it is still working strong. I'm making waffles on average 1 time per week.I love this for making waffles and chaffles, but the plates are not removable and the mix can flow under the plates in the front by the handle. This means scraping out the grove between the plate and the handle.Update. July 2020. I discovered a bad smell in the cupboard today. The waffle iron stunk. Upon removing the screws on the handle, I discovered that it was filled with maggots. The overflow batter has been seeping in over time and not visible from the outside. . Needless to say, it’s in the garbage. A very poor design to say the least. De verdad la recomiendo al 100, excelente relación calidad-precio ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐?This product makes great waffles, I have made many, many waffles in different colours. I spray the plates for the first 4 waffles and I find that it is not necessary to spray them after that. I highly recommend this product to anyone who loves perfect waffles. I also joined cooking groups and so far I have downloaded 5 waffle recipes but I have only tried 2. If you are looking for great recipes check Yummy, yes this is a real cooking site. Good eating.
