When the product first arrived I also thought it was scratched, used/damaged, BUT it has a white PROTECTIVE film you peel off of the STAINLESS STEEL appliance. The one review that shows like 6 pictures of a damaged item didn’t peel off the protective film. Mine looked the same, I was equally annoyed until I READ the pamphlet that said peel off outer while film. You’ll love this waffle maker. I found recipes online & it is so easy to use. No mess and easy to clean.
